Alex and James's wedding day started out with some rain, which I've always heard was lucky. I never knew why until I randomly saw someone post about it on facebook the morning of the wedding. Since getting married is referred to as "tying the knot" (because of the old Celtic custom of handfasting, if I remember correctly), and a wet knot is harder to untie, rain on your wedding day is said to foretell a long and happy marriage.
Luckily for us, the rain stopped before it was time for the first photos outside! Alex and James got married at World Gospel Church in Terre Haute and the flower garden near the entrance was the perfect spot for their first look!
This is James's daughter Allie. Isn't she beautiful?!?
This is my favorite photo from the day. I was so happy to see this little flower garden outside the church!
Alex was a beautiful bride!
Their wedding ceremony was so sweet - you could tell they were just so excited to be married!
After the ceremony and family photos, we headed to the Shrine Hill Country Place for a few more photos before the reception.
I loved that she used photos from their engagement session as part of the reception decor!
The first dance is always my favorite part of the reception (with the father/daughter and mother/son dances coming in a close second).
