Inside Looking Out {Indiana Fine Art Photographer}

photo of covered bridge in Parke County, Indiana

I love photographing people - capturing the emotion, telling the stories, helping people see just how blessed they are - but I also have a love for beauty in general, from old barns and bridges that are so plentiful here in rural Indiana, to the beautiful mountains of Tennessee, the shores of Lake Michigan, and wherever else life takes me. I look for beauty everywhere I go and if I'm lucky enough to have my camera with me I usually can't resist capturing it in photographs.

This image is one of my favorites from our "covered bridge summer." Back when my oldest kid was just a little guy, the covered bridge in Bridgeton was burned down and we were really sad about it. I remember camping near the bridge and playing in the creek when I was a kid and my dad lived there when he was a kid so I grew up hearing lots of stories set there. We decided we should try to see all the covered bridges in Parke County (there are around 30) before more were destroyed. Then life happened and we kept putting it off but finally in 2009 we were driving home from Indianapolis and decided to stop at one of the bridges and that summer, now with 3 kids in tow, we finally visited all of them.  It was one of my favorite summers ever - it was simple and fun and a perfectly Hoosier way to spend a beautiful summer with my favorite people.

I love how this image shows both the inside of the bridge and a bit of the surrounding countryside, and also I'm a sucker for a good black and white image, especially one with leading lines and a good amount of contrast!

To purchase a fine art print of this image or browse through the others I have available, please click here and check back every week as I plan to highlight one image each week and tell a little bit of the story behind it.
