This is part 6 of our Colorado trip. If you want to see more, check out parts one two, three. four, and five.
Our next stop in Colorado was Paint Mines Interpretive Park. It was about an hour drive from Colorado Springs, and as usual we were running a little late. Are you noticing a pattern here? We're really bad at time management on vacation. When we got there, it was only about an hour before dark and we ended up parking in the wrong parking lot, we realized later that there was a closer one. So we ended up having a kind of long walk to get to the paint mines. We rushed through here because we wanted to make sure we were back to the van before dark since I had read about mountain lions in the area, and Daniel actually did see something in the field across the street on our way back, luckily he didn't tell me about that till later! I was really worried about bears and mountain lions.
Anyway, this is another place where I really wish we would have had more time to spend and I'd love to go back again sometime. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be as cool as the photos I'd seen, but it really was this colorful!
Coming up in part seven: Pikes Peak
